Your gums are like the foundations to a building; with an unstable and infirm base, whatever is above it is likely to come crashing down. This is why we offer a range of dental care options to make sure we work together, with you, to keep your gums strong and healthy.

Gum disease starts when plaque (a soft, sticky film filled with bad bacteria) builds up under and along the gum line. It can cause infections leading to gum disease and tooth decay. Plaque can also cause ‘gingivitis’ which is the earliest stage of gum disease and will present itself as gums that are tender, swollen and susceptible to bleeding.

At a check-up, we will assess your oral health and discuss the best treatment plan for you. Our friendly hygienist is also available to work with patients that need some extra help to keep their oral hygiene in great condition to prevent future problems.

Further still, we want to care for your whole family, and so encourage children to be brought to the surgery from a young age, to get them used to the environment and to start to instil positive oral hygiene and dietary habits. We proudly support the NHS Health Scotland initiative ‘Childsmile’.
